Outboard Maintenance Schedule

This is a general guide for routine maintenance on your Mercury, Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki outboard engine. Consult your owners manual for your manufacturer's specific schedule.

1 Year / 100 Hours

3 Years / 300 Hours

  • Replace water pump
  • Replace thermostats
  • Replace anodes

Winterization / Long Term Storage (Winterization Supplies)

  • Fill fuel tank 95% full
  • Stabilize fuel with storage fuel stabilizer / run motor to get stabilized fuel distributed through entire fuel system
  • Change lower unit / moisture in gear lube can freeze and cause damage to your gear case
    • Replace gaskets
  • Fog engine
    • Spray fogging oil into spark plug holes. Turn engine. Only spray fogging oil into intake on older 2 stroke motors.

If you only plan to service your engine once per year, Routine Marine recommends performing all servicing in the fall when you winterize.
